My new favorite band is "Kill Switch Engaged! It's a rocker! Guess ya had to be there.
Anyway, It was a cool calm and sunny evening on the water in Leland tonight and even colder out on the water. 38° water in some spots, and 45° water closer to shore. Hard fishing for sure as only 5 boats out of 8 weighed in Lake Trout. No other species was caught so we combined the purse for the winners.
1st Place went to Wyatt Thompson in the "Ultra Tangled" weighing in a nice box of 26.65lbs and garnering $250 plus $160 for Big Fish (13.70 lbs).
2nd Place was captured by Dave and Noelle Rommel (Team Super Fish) with 16.85lbs and netting them $104.
3rd Place was a delicious entree cooked up by Brad and Pat Patterson from Team Bubbas Burgers weighing in 15.25lbs and pocketing $62.
A great night to be on the water. We finally got a clear calm night in Leland vs fog or waves.
Thanks to Big Jon and Dreamweaver for the great raffle prizes, Matt and Sean for the quick setup, and Greg and Carla for the tear down. And a big thanks to the long haul trucker Mike Radcliffe for the miles and running the event. See less

1st Timers, brand new members clean house in Elk Rapids tonight! That was the theme for the whole event and it was glorious. The humiliation they brought to the regulars was absolutely fantastic.
1st place went to Team Fischer pulling down $250 for big box (13.75lbs) and $120 for big fish all the while being their first event with us. They’ll be back! You can’t leave the poker table while you are on winning streak-its just poor form. One nice laker (8.95lbs) was more than enough to almost double the rest of the field and that big one didn’t come until the end of the night pulling lines. Congratulations on a great night to Fischer Piche and Hayden Murchie.
2nd place went to-you know…Ye Ole Twisted Dipsy with a massive 2 fish weight of 7.45 lbs and rejoicing in their $109 win. Kevin Craven, Matty Boy Marciniak, Sean Brunetti and myself stumbled into a few, just couldn’t find a big one.
3rd place went to another brand new team just joining us…Mark and Glen Atkinson, with Don King as their guidance counselor, landed a 7.40lb box almost tying for 2nd! So close, but good enough to beat all the regulars on a beautiful night on East Bay. Congratulations Team Mar Becca on a great win and hope to have you back!
A big thanks to Loren for running a smooth weigh in. We started at 10pm sharp and we were loaded up and headed home at 1023. Big Jon (season sponsor) and Dreamweaver (Big Water sponsor) provided great prizes so even the non-money winners walked away with excellent gear.
Next week, for the 1st time, we are on Boardman Lake sponsored by TCH Gear and Big Jon. Come on out and be lucky!

Boardman Lake tonight had all the ambience you could ask for in an Urban Lake in Downtown Traverse City. Ah, the sights (couple of future Aerospace Engineers arguing cheek to cheek with each other), the sounds (every 15 minutes Jet Air-busses coming in overhead like crop dusters), and the smell of the extra tannic colored water spiced with what one could only describe as a Bangladeshi tidal zone at low tide. Yum yum.
The game tonight was 1) One Big Fish of any species and/or 2) The heaviest bag of any 5 panfish over 8” long. 7 boats arrived, 14 fishermen pursued and here are your results:
No panfish over 8” were caught. So that purse got melded into the Big Fish Division. Drumroll…The Boardman Lake faulty water treatment facility trophy goes to “Team 2nd Chance Sportfishing captained by Mr. Mike Radcliffe and 1st Mate Ryan Harper for the win! A $140 combined payout for the heaviest Pike at 4.05lbs.
Thanks to TCH Gear for the sweet Diawa Revros jigging combo (thanks Gary and Colton), Big Jon Sports for the Sweet Merch (thanks Ryan), and 131 Custom Lures for custom painted Flicker Shads (Thanks Jim) as raffle prizes.
No Wednesday Nighter next week. Why? Because Saturday Morning (6 June) is Big Glen Lake! Get your perch and laker gear inspected, it’ll be a good one.
