Good Lord-what a day! 37 total attendees in this year’s The Fallen Outdoors (TFO) Veterans’ Ice Fishing event sponsored by The NWMI Fishing Club. Before we go into the details of what happened, we got some people to thank:
None if this can happen without Matt and Maxine and Liz with TFO, getting Vets signed up and excited to come out in conditions like today. A lot of organizations donate money and do great work for helping vets on the not-so-fun end of the spectrum, but very few provide actual fun entertainment like this. Its very different than your typical non-profit. Great job all!
Thanks to Dennis Buchner at Bucs Bait for providing all the bait (Golden Shiners, Perch Minnows, and sucker chubs) as well as donating for the chow. Really appreciate your continuous generosity Dennis!
And all the Fishing Club volunteers that brought
out those vets and made their day. Heck of a lot of fun was put on your backs today. Give yourselves a pat. You deserve it. Sweet Tommy Brown on the wood fired savories and club infrastructure upgrades-just outstanding. All you transporters out there with machines making life easier-fantastic. Matt and Kevin for the recon and the confidence/expertise to risk and then push this venue and the bonfire wood as well.
But our biggest thanks of all goes out to our Veterans and active duty military today for your freakin service, making us all smile and laugh and making us proud.
Once again, all services were represented including the standout and most lethal, disciplined, and all around steely eyed killers -The United States Army By God!
What happened was, in total, a barrel full of big pike ranging from Fish Moxie’s grotesquely fat 32.5” pike, a few 28’s and a bunch 24-27s were caught.
More than a couple Master Angler Perch were caught (See pics of these slobs below)…
But the Trophy was Isaac Jackson’s 25.5” big buck beautiful steelhead-complete with a frantic hut-door trip, face-plant with no gloves on, and a hand over hand victory catch. Man was that great to see. Just fantastic.
Thanks everyone!
Join the club! Have a ball!

I can wait to reconnect with everyone again next year!

The North American Snow Festival in Cadillac
Yesterday, 1 February, we had a quick fund raiser in Cadillac with our hot dog stand. Thanks to all the volunteers-you made it easy, fun and quick!
The North American Snow Festival in Cadillac has been going on for more than 50 years and brings people in from states across the country. Great prizes and payouts for sure. Thanks to Pilgrims Village and Fox Ford for a perfect way to spend a Saturday.

Another amazing Interlochness is wrapped up!
Thank you to all of our volunteers! It takes a village: All of our board: John, Andy, Mike, Tim and Loren. Special thanks to Tom Brown for use of his tent and helping with the weigh in. Scott Brown for his help with the weigh in too!
We made quick work of tearing the tent down thanks to lots of folks donating their time.
Huge Pike were weighed in as you can see. We set a record for the amount of bluegill entries at 25. 122 total entries. A few winners didn't make it to the awards ceremony. Nick has your money at the store. The leaderboard is the first picture in this post so you know who you are.
I encourage everyone to support this club and to get involved. It's very rewarding and tons of fun!!!
